5 Easy Tips to Improve Your Sitting Posture

Your posture is an important aspect that most people don’t even bother to try and maintain or fix. But, bad posture can lead to arches in the spine, loss of confidence, backaches, neck aches and more. It’s important that no matter where you are or how you are standing or sitting, that you always try to maintain your posture.

  1. Identify Good Posture. Most people don’t even realize they have bad posture. Standing sideways in front of a mirror is a great way to see and fix your posture.
  2. Exercising. Certain forms of exercising can not only help you stand straighter, but it also helps with your spine and musculature which helps you stand up straight. Doing exercises such as Chin Glide and Pelvic tilt both of which will help increase bone and muscle strength.
  3. Ergonomic Chairs. If possible, make sure that chairs and couches in your home are ergonomic. These actually reduce back and neck pain and help keep you upright so that your posture stays straight and that you don’t slouch, which really causes bad posture.
  4. Stretch. A lot of people spend a lot of time at a desk or cubicle and getting up and moving around, doing stretches may not be possible. Thankfully, you can stretch right at your desk by doing a few simple exercises such as placing your hands behind your head, sit up straight and stretch. When available, get up and take a short walk to loosen your tight muscles.
  5. Yoga. Believe it or not, yoga is not just some ploy it actually does work. Be sure to do yoga or meditate at least once a day. Your back, neck, legs and mind will be thanking you. You don’t even need to go to an expensive class, look online for a few videos.
